SHELTON, CT: Barbara R. Fusco, age 81 of Shelton entered peaceful rest at her home surrounded by her devoted family on August 9, 2014; she was the beloved wife of the late Joseph R. Fusco (passed April 23, 2014) with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage on March 31, 2014. Mrs. Fusco was born July 22, 1933 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Paul and Vincenza (Cedrone) Arpie. She graduated Central High School, Bridgeport in 1951, then in 1954 Barbara graduated from the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing; she also held an Associate's Degree in Science from Charter Oak College-1982. Mrs. Fusco retired from the State of CT, Dept. of Public Health as a Nurse Consultant after 25 years of service. Barbara worked in all aspects of nursing, including an orthopedist office, a hospital nurse, a Visiting Nurse, and a Charge Nurse at the former Laurel Heights Hospital, Shelton. Barbara leaves her loving family including, three children, Michael Fusco (Ellen) of Watertown, Michelle Fusco (Linda Pucci) of Portland, OR, and Gregory Fusco (Gina) of Ellington, a brother, Ronald Arpie (Margaret) in GA, six grandchildren, Michael Fusco, Nicole Gatcomb (Philip), Joseph Fusco, David Fusco, and P.F.C. Ashleigh Fusco, U.S. Army, Mary Bethke, her great grandson, Mason Grady; also special nieces Janice Jacozzi, and Virginia Chosed, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Barbara's family wishes to extend a special thank you to her dear neighbors and friends, Larry and Lori Michalik . Her infant daughter Valerie, and siblings, David, Vilma Tougas, Virginia Cantor, and Ernest predeceased her. A Memorial Service in celebration of Barbara's life will be held Thursday at 5:00 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. Interment will be private.
