I worked for Mike for a little over 3 years at DCMA Sikorsky.  He was a great mentor, and his knowledge in the QA field was vast.  Although not always politically correct, Mike's sense of humor was incomparable.  I will always remember him telling me "You're the Ma'am"!   Beneath his rough exterior was a good hearted family man! 

My Mike story:  One day, during the slow week after Christmas, only 3 of us QAS's were in the office.  I just came upstairs from making my rounds on the shop floor.  Mike had his office door wide open as he usually did and he was having rather loud converstion with someone on the phone (I still don't know who was on the other end).  He told the person on the phone "I only have 3 QAS's in the office today and 2 out of 3 of them are idiots".  I  looked at one of my other coworkers (I'll call him one of the G's), who also overheard the conversation and I said "ok, it's official, we both have 33 1/3 % chance of being an idoit".   If anyone other than Mike had said this, we may have been upset, but we were used to his management style by now and never took anything he said personally.  Fast forward a year or so, it was the day before he retired I finally asked him about this statement, his reply was "If you bring donuts tomorrow, you're not the idiot". LOL!  I forgot the donuts, but by then me and G already determined that the third guy on duty that day was the idiot.
