Life Story for Frederick J. "Fred" Blum Sr.

SEYMOUR, CT: Frederick J. "Fred" Blum, Sr., 76 of Seymour entered peaceful rest on February 15, 2015 at his home surrounded by his devoted family. He was born September 6, 1938 in Derby, son of the late Frederick and Mary C. (Kulas) Blum. Mr. Blum was a retired from Ideal Manufacturing, Beacon Falls doing machine repair, and was also known to be a "Jack of All Trades"; Fred was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Fred enjoyed taking road trips, especially to Maine where he trekked many miles on snowmobiles, he "lived for sledding". Fred was also quite a "story teller"; he will be fondly remembered as a loving father and a devoted grand and great grandfather. Frederick leaves his loving family including, sons, Frederick Blum, Jr. (Carol) of Woodbridge, John C. Blum (Monica A.) of Woodbridge, and Paul Blum (Mary) of Naugatuck, and a daughter, Marianne Pendergast (Michael) of Southbury, his step-daughters, Bonnie Kelemencky of Naugatuck, and Tammy Overchuck of Killingworth, his grandchildren, Frederick, Nicole, Maggie, Allie, Jamie, Lauren, Sydney, Stephen, Joshua, Rebecca, and Kaitlyn, and great grandchildren, Frederick and Gabriella.

Calling Hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Rd., Seymour where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Full Military Honors will follow.
