Obituary for Rose M. Loughlin (Marcoux)

Rose Marcoux Loughlin, 91, of Bridgeport, CT, passed away peacefully at home on June 5, 2015, after a long illness. She was born in New Hampshire on March 23, 1924 to Delvina and Albert Marcoux and was the oldest of 5 children. Rose married Robert B. Loughlin in 1944 and had 2 children, Robert and Dianne. After the sudden death of her husband in 1955, Rose went to Southern CT State College to earn the teaching degree her husband had been pursuing in order to support her and their young children. Rose spent 31 years in Special Education, first as a teacher, then Director of Special Ed, and finally as the Director at Skane School. She retired at 67 and spent the following 10 years in Port St. Lucie, FL, where she enjoyed gardening, entertaining friends and family, and going to the Mets spring training baseball games.

Rose was predeceased by her sisters, Sally Gantek and her husband Stash, and Elaine Zrallack and husband Robert; brother, Albert Marcoux and his wife Kay; and brother-in-law, John Yanosy. Rose is survived by her loving children, Robert Loughlin and his wife Nancy of Trumbull, and Dianne Harry and her husband Michael of Bridgeport; three cherished grandchildren, Michael Harry, Jr. of NYC, Jennifer Plourde and her husband Mike of Vienna, VA, and Robert Harry of Trumbull; three adored great grandchildren, Thomas and James Plourde, and Eliza Harry; her baby sister, Gloria Yanosy; a dear friend, Norma Wattell, as well as many nieces, nephews and countless friends. A private service for the family has been entrusted to the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St. Seymour, CT 06483.
