Obituary for Alvin Sherman Alexander

Alvin Sherman  Alexander
SEYMOUR, CT: Alvin Sherman Alexander, age 77 of Seymour entered peaceful rest on December 1, 2016 at his home with his devoted family by his side; he was the beloved husband of Utokia Imojean (Woodfell) Alexander with whom he was married to and adored for 59 years, but were sweethearts together for the past 70 years. Mr. Alexander was born on November 25, 1939 in Charleston, WV, son of the late Alvin Sherman and Alma Christine (Medley) Alexander; " he was so bright, his mother called him son"!. Alvin was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired Master Tin Knocker, having been employed by the Shelton Roofing Co., and was a union member of the Local 40. Alvin had an infectious sense of humor, and was loved by all who came to meet him. He simply enjoyed talking with people. "He was personified goodness only to be exceeded by his good looks and intellect. " Mr. Alexander will be fondly remembered for the love he had for his grandchildren, in fact "he lived for his grandchildren; his favorite granddaughter Courtney Alexis Hassenfeldt, and his favorite grandson, Zacharias Nathan Hassenfeldt both of Seymour.
In addition to his wife and grandchildren, Alvin leaves his loving family, including, his daughter, Lisa Hassenfeldt and her husband, Howard of Seymour, his brothers, Orrin Alexander of Amma, WV, and Thomas Alexander of Shelton, his sisters, Christine Jeanette of Cheshire, and Eldora Duncan of Taylorsville, Utah, also several nephews, and his best friend, Danny Yeager of Ansonia. His sister Anna Marie Nelson predeceased him.

Calling Hours will be Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour. A Funeral Service in celebration of Alvin's life will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m., followed by full Military Honors. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
