Obituary for Linda Doczynski (Finck)

Linda (Finck) Doczynski, age 67 of Oxford, formerly of Yonkers, NY, beloved wife of John Doczynski, entered into peaceful rest on Thursday, February 16, 2017 with family by her side. Born in Springfield Gardens, NY, on October 6, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Ottilie (Hoehl) Finck. An accomplished registered nurse for over 40 years, Linda graduated from Pilgrim State Nursing School, NY, in 1971. She worked at St. John’s Riverside Hospital, NY, for 36 years where she started the “Look Good Feel Better” cancer support group and was recognized with the National Sunrise Award for her dedication in cancer care. Upon moving to Oxford, she became an active parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Linda was a Valley Parish Nurse through Griffin Hospital and received the 2016 “Making a Difference in the Valley” Award. Linda enjoyed gardening and reached the hearts of many people through her cooking, but she found the most happiness spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her beloved husband of 41 years, she is survived by her loving children, Michael Doczynski and his wife Amy of NY, and Christina Durkin and her husband Jamie of Oxford, and her 4 cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Sean, Leah and Grace. Linda was predeceased by her sister, Alice Hunter, and her nephew, Robert Hunter. Calling hours for family and friends will be on Monday, February 20, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at the Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, February 21, DIRECTLY at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Oxford. Interment will follow in Mt. Meadows Cemetery, Seymour.
