Obituary for Henry Els Jr.

NAUGATUCK – Henry Els, Jr., age 80 of Beacon Falls, beloved husband of the late Margaret (Miller) Els, entered peaceful rest on Saturday, April 15, 2017 in Masonicare of Wallingford. Born in Freeport, NY, on December 3, 1936, he was a son of the late Henry, Sr. and Freda Wirtl Els. A retired chemist for Carrubba, Inc., Henry enjoyed golf and nature. He loved his cats, and he especially enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels that waited for him every morning for breakfast on his back deck. He will be remembered for his sarcasm, especially his dry sense of humor. Henry is survived by his loving children, Michael Els and his wife Kathy of Naugatuck, and Erik Els and his wife Katherine of Beacon Falls; five adored grandchildren, Taylor, Cortney, Michael, Mackenzie and Khloe, as well as his “lady friend”, Mary Ulanecki of Naugatuck. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, William Els. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 8:30 am in the Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church St., Seymour, and at 9:30 am in St. Michael’s church, Beacon Falls. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4-8pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to www.crohnscolitisfoundation.org
