Life Story for Mary Baktis (Kwoka)

OXFORD, CT: Mary Baktis, age 97 of Oxford, formerly of Shelton entered peaceful rest on November 14, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late George Baktis, Sr. Mary was born July 21, 1920 in Seymour, daughter of the late Panko and Ester (Zsyko) Kwoka. She was retired from the Kerite Co., where she worked as an Assembler for many years. Mrs. Baktis was a faithful parishioner of Three Saints Orthodox Church, Ansonia. Mary loved working in the yard, and also gathering clothing and sending it to underprivileged in Poland. Mary rescued and provided homes to many, many dogs. Her favorite hobby was collecting treasures at tag sales.

Mrs. Baktis leaves her loving family including her sons, George, Jr. (Susan) of Oxford with whom she resided, and Ron (Linda) of Milford; her grandchildren, Greg (Susan) of Oxford, Brian of Derby, and Chris (Denise) of Meriden; great grandchildren, Erik, Adam, Emily, Kyle, and Brian, Jr., and many nieces and nephews. Her sister Ann, and brothers John, Phil, Paul, and Mike predeceased her.

Calling Hours are Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St., Seymour. Funeral services are Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home, to Three Saints Orthodox Church, 26 Howard Av., Ansonia at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Three Saints Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Gifts may be sent to Three Saints Orthodox Church, or to local animal shelters.
