Obituary for Raymond Thomas O'Donnell

Raymond Thomas  O'Donnell
Mr. Raymond Thomas O’Donnell, I, age 78, of Beacon Falls, beloved husband of the late Carolyn L. Thomas O’Donnell, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011 at Shady Knoll Health Care Center, Seymour.

Mr. O’Donnell was the son of the late Hugh and Frances (Ayers) O’Donnell and was born on November 24, 1932 in Bridgeport. He was a U.S Army veteran with the First Calvary Division during the Korean War. Mr. O’Donnell was a machinist for E.O. Manufacturing in West Haven for many years before his retirement. He was a Forth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus in Bridgeport and a former Boy Scout Leader. He was an active communicant of St. Michael’s Church, Beacon Falls.

Mr. O’Donnell is survived by five children, Amy Farber and her husband Brian of Delaware, Raymond O’Donnell, II and his wife Carrie of Beacon Falls, MaryBeth Gamerdinger and her husband Jeffrey of Westbrook, Thomas O’Donnell of Beacon Falls and Catherine Murphy and her husband Joseph of Wolcott and five grandchildren, Courtney, Jacklyn and Kelly O’Donnell and Melissa and Joseph Murphy. He also leaves two sisters, Emily White of Maine, Margaret “Peggy” Brown of Uncasville and a brother, Carl O’Donnell, Sr. of Stratford and several nieces and nephews. His brothers, Hugh, Joseph, Frank and James O’Donnell predeceased him.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Sept. 9, at 8:45 a.m. at the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Michael’s Church, Beacon Falls. Interment with Military Honors at Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
