William (Bill) C. Olmstead, age 80 of Oxford, previously of Ontario, CA, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in Fayetteville, NC on December 17, 1935, he was the son of the late Samuel and Minnie (Reeves) Olmstead. A graduate of Cerrito College, Bill was a veteran of the US Army and a retired Downey, CA police officer. Later in his life, Bill worked security at the Beverly Hills Hotel guarding their prestigious collection of Harry Winston jewels, including pieces previously owned by Elizabeth Taylor as well as other Hollywood celebrities. Bill loved motorcycles and restoring antique cars, as well as animals and travelling. Bill is survived by his beloved sisters, Bessie Pawlak of Oxford and Joyce Curnew of North Carolina; his cherished nieces, Sherry (Pawlak) Greifzu of Oxford, Tina (Pawlak) Careddu of South Carolina, and Tammy (Pawlak) Ladyko of Oxford, as well as four nephews, Russell, Mark, Donald and Terry Curnew of North Carolina. Interment will be at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours.
